Ace Glass Recycling Facility in Little Rock, AR To Be 100% Solar Powered

SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): Glass manufacturer and installer Ace Glass Construction Corp. of Little Rock will open a Platinum LEED-certified glass facility that will operate with 100% solar power, recycle glass and implement lean manufacturing processes. Several state officials and business leaders unveiled the facility Thursday (June 14).

The facility at 3101 Dugan St. in Little Rock is expected to be the first glass recycling facility in the state, according to a news release. Ace Glass’ recycling division will soon start to collect and recycle consumer, commercial and industrial glass, and longer term, the company will convert crushed glass into a commercially viable product. Ace Glass has been operating a glass recycling pilot program in Maumelle and has plans to expand into other communities across the state.

The new facility also will recycle excess aluminum and cardboard, according to the release, and the lean manufacturing processes will be used to eliminate waste when possible.

Following are those who were to attend the event to unveil the facility: Courtney Little, owner of Ace Glass; Craig Douglas, executive director for the Regional Recycling & Waste Reduction District; Michael Grappe, chief program officer for the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality; Phil Plyler, manager of client services for the Arkansas Economic Development Commission; April Ambrose, LEED Advanced Professional Executive for Entegrity Partners; and Grey Williams, principal for Dextra Business Consulting.
