Nucor registers lawsuit against Big River

Nucor Steel, the second largest steel producer of the US, filed lawsuit in federal court against Big River Steel. Big River, Steel has already received an extension from the federal court in the US.

Nucor registers lawsuit against Big River

WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster): The 13 million worth steel manufacturing facility, according to the scheduled must have been starting it processing in Osceola, on September 22nd, but instead Big River will have to face the complaint in the court, which Nucor anticipates will stop the construction in Osceola within October 10th. Nucor already has two steel plants in Arkansas, where Big River has planned their new steel mill.

The founder of Big River was founded by John Correnti, who was one of the former president and CEO of Nucor Steel, and the company’s main focus is to provide the demand for electrical energy, automotive and oil and gas industry. The project of the company is being funded by the state of Arkansas and the city of Osceola, in the form of a bond of 125 billion dollars and 1.5 billion dollars respectively. The company is expecting to employ about 500 workers after the completion of the project

The main allegation in the lawsuit filed against the company was that, the upcoming project of Big River may increase the rate of pollution in air and water, in the nearby areas and affect the health conditions of workers.
