Interstate Plastics honored for in-house recycling program

SACRAMENTO (Scrap Monster): Sacramento, California-based Interstate Plastics has been honored by the International Association of Plastics Distribution (IAPD) for its in-house recycling program. The company won bronze medal in the Environmental Excellence Category. The award was presented during the 59th IADP Convention 2015 held in San Diego on September 23rd.

The award is in recognition of the company’s recycling programme that was launched in 2014 which includes recycling of scraps, runoff and remnant material. According to Rich McDevitt, Safety and Quality Manager, the company aims to recycle and reuse all materials, not only plastics. He added that recycling has its own benefits, although challenging in many situations. Interstate Plastics had submitted the application for the first time this year.

Curbell Plastics, Inc. was honored with gold medal, whereas Cast Nylons Ltd., Cope Plastics, Inc. and Laird Plastics won silver awards. Two other companies shared the bronze medal along with Interstate Plastics- Margacipta and Piedmont Plastics. The awards established by the IAPD Environmental Committee in 2008 recognizes the environmentally responsible practices of IAPD member companies.
