Single Stream
Single Stream recycling, an emerging recycling option in many markets, can greatly simplify your waste diversion and recycling program. Single Streaming services can reduce the amount of equipment needed on site and the requirement to sort materials prior to collection. All recyclable materials are collected in a single container then processed at a permitted Material Recovery Facility (MRF). As options around Single Stream recycling continue to evolve, RiverRoad works with clients to make recycling an easy and viable solution by bringing these options to light.

Universal & eWaste
Universal and eWaste is a rapidly growing segment of the waste stream for obvious reasons. Consider the following statistic from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), which estimates that Americans own approximately 24 electronic products per household. In the United States, more than 3.15 million tons of universal and e-waste is generated annually and just about 13.5% of that is recycled, according to the EPA.As a result, local laws are changing rapidly to keep up with the rising tide of universal and e-waste components. Many universal and e-waste materials can be toxic to our environment if placed into landfills. Finding a qualified and reputable recycler who responsibly handles universal and e-waste helps protect not only your organization’s reputation, but also protects our environment.

Landfills are the last resort.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Americans are generating about 250 million tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) annually.  Of that amount, roughly 33% is recycled or composted and 13% is incinerated. The balance, 54%, goes to the landfill. In more personal terms, each one of us generates 4.5 pounds of waste per day and recycles or composts about 1.5 pounds. Keeping waste out of landfills has become a critical goal for our future. That’s our goal at RiverRoad. We help clients find value in their waste streams by sending less waste to landfills.
