Junk Rescue is a Charlotte, North Carolina based, sustainable junk removal and recycling service and we want you to stop treating your junk like garbage. We have served the Queen City since early 2009 when founders, brothers, Blake and Brad Redden had an idea to not only pickup unwanted junk, but to rescue it. Today, Junk Rescue is providing junk and bulky waste collection for residential and commercial clients throughout Charlotte, resulting in over 100 tons of reused and recycled material annually.

We provide an array of services, all centered around our core focus of recycling. These services include junk removal, recycling collection, and dumpsters. Our junk removal service involves us coming out to your location and loading whatever items you want gone, as long as it's not your spouse or some nasty chemicals. Our recycling collection service, also referred to as curbside collection or single stream recycling involves us coming out on a routine basis and emptying a provided recycling bin full of cans, bottles, paper, and other typically recycled materials. Dumpster services involve us bringing you one or more mini dumpsters to load your own junk or recyclable materials. We can deliver a dumpster for a single material, like cardboard or wood, or for a mixture of materials like junk from a garage cleanout. Services can occur on a per call basis or they can be scheduled for weekly, monthly, or even daily rotations if needed.

What separates Junk Rescue from other waste haulers besides the fact that we are pretty much awesome, is that all junk and bulky items we collect go to our facility for sorting. We remove it from your location, then sort it at our location. It is here that we are able to determine if an item gets donated, reused, recycled, or as a very last resort, landfilled. By maintaining a facility for sorting and storing, junk, we are able to gather certain materials until we have an efficient quantity to ship to a recycler.

We are driven to provide our clients with a sustainable means for their unwanted or excess junk that does not involve a trip straight to the landfill. Junk Rescue is a brand with a mission!  It is more than a company name, rather a philosophy that goes far beyond the old saying that “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure.”  It is a core belief that all material has a use and after its original use, a reuse.  If reuse cannot occur, then used material must have the opportunity to be broken down into its basic elements and recycled or composted.

Our Founding

Some people say their idea started on a napkin. Well, ours really did. This napkin symbolizes who we are as a company and what we stand for. You see, this little napkin was only intended to have one purpose in life. It was supposed to wipe someones mouth and then be tossed away with millions of other napkins. Unlike most napkins, this napkin landed in the lap of two brothers who were on to something exciting.

What if every material, no matter what it's original design or intention had a second purpose? What if nothing had to go to the landfill or the incinerator? Sure, it's a far fetched idea, but what if there was a company that tried to make it happen? What if that company was like a rescue squad for unwanted junk, racing through streets and back alleys, trying to save everything they could from the ultimate demise of the landfill? Could a company called Junk Rescue have an effect on global waste? What if that company lived to see a zero waste society?

Junk is everywhere! It's in our closets, our garages, our attics, and our basements. It's in our cars, our offices, and even our back yards. We live in a consumer society where almost everything we buy becomes useless not long after we buy it, whether by choice, design, trends, or technology. Recycling Dumpsters

Now more than ever before, our generation is being held accountable for our waste generation. The days of throwing everything in a dumpster headed to the landfill are hopefully coming to a close. Did you know that the vast majority of new construction waste is 100% recyclable or that most of the items you pull out of your attic or garage are not only recyclable but reusable. We have to start acknowledging this! Junk Rescue is excited to now provide 10 and 12 yard recycling dumpster services in Charlotte, NC.

What is a recycling dumpster you ask? Well, we think it can be many different things. Put simply, everything that goes in a Junk Rescue recycling dumpster gets a second chance.

We can do this through a couple of different options to our customers. The first option is providing a dumpster for a single, recyclable material. This might include clean wood, shingles, drywall, dry carpet, cardboard, appliances, electronics, masonry, etc. By only placing one type of recyclable material in the dumpster, that material can be efficiently emptied at the appropriate recycling vendor for that material.

The second option is to provide a dumpster for multiple reusable or recyclable items. This dumpster can have any combination of recyclable materials which could also include furniture and household junk being removed from an attic, basement, garage, or anywhere else. This option allows the customer the freedom to put whatever they want in the dumpster, knowing that Junk Rescue technicians will sort out all reusable items or recyclable materials once removed.

Curbside Collection

Junk Rescue is pleased to offer discerning Charlotte businesses, property managers, and even neighborhoods with weekly curbside collection services. This includes curbside collection of recyclables such as paper, cardboard, metals, plastics, and glass, sometimes refered to as 'Single Stream' or 'Co-Mingled' recycling collection. Junk Rescue can customize these services to fit the needs of your business, property, or neighborhood. This may include picking up on a certain day of the week or at a certain time of the day. We can provide bins or use bins already in place in some situations. We can also pick up bagged recycling in situations where large rolling bins or containers are not ideal or aesthetically pleasing. If it takes us picking up trash, although we don't like trash, we'll do that too.

Junk Rescue also provides curbside collection of bulky items or bulk materials. This includes items such as mattresses, electronics, carpet, furniture, pallets, yard debris, etc. Unlike most bulky item collection programs provided by large waste haulers and most municipalities, Junk Rescue actually takes the time to sort and separate bulk waste in order to see that most of it gets recycled. Does this cost money? Sure it does, but we do what's right for the environment, not just what's right for our pockets. Electronic Recycling

Electronics are pretty much anything that has a plug or runs on batteries which includes but is not limited to, computers, laptops, copiers, cameras, computer monitors, flat screens, microwaves, stereos, phones, cell phones, radios, tv, big box televisions, LCD screens, plasma screens, keyboards, speakers, dvd players, servers, CRT monitors, fax machines, scanners, power supplies, etc. When we decide it is time to upgrade our outdated gadgets to the latest and greatest gadgets, our old gadget then becomes electronic waste.

Electronic waste, also referred to as E-waste or E-scrap is the fastest growing waste stream in the world. It is also one of the most complex and often times misunderstood waste streams. Electronics are not just made of one material but many different materials, some of which include precious metals like gold, silver, and platinum. In general, almost 100% of an electronic device is recyclable, even the plastic case or mold.

Even still, many electronics end up in area landfills. As of July 1, 2011, it is illegal to dump any electronic device into a landfill in North Carolina. Junk Rescue wants to make electronic recycling easy for you. We can take all of your electronics and make sure that they reach the best destination for recycling. That's why we work closely with electronic vendors who deliver responsible and environmentally sound methods of electronic disposal. Electronics that we collect are inventoried, sorted, and dismantled in the United States by certified companies who are regulated and even audited by independent third parties.
