World Steel in Figures 2018 Envisages Robust Steel Demand Growth

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has published the 2018 edition of ‘World Steel in Figures’. The yearly publication provides comprehensive overview of latest activities in global steel sector and indications of global trade flows along with key facts and figures for the year 2017.

Dr. Edwin Basson, Director General, worldsteel, hoped that trade tensions will abate, in order for the industry to maintain its positive outlook on steel demand growth as outlined by the Short Range Outlook (SRO). The steel demand growth is projected at 1.8% in 2018, followed by 0.7% in 2019.

The top ten steel-producing countries in 2017 is listed in the below table. It must be noted that the tonnage is in million tonnes.
