Spectro Alloys Announced Ground Breaking of Recycling Plant Expansion

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Rosemount-based Spectro Alloys announced ground breaking of a major expansion project at its aluminum recycling plant. Gov. Tim Walez celebrated the opening of the $71 million recycling plant expansion. The facility is expected to become operational in mid-2025.

The investment is expected to add additional capacity of around 120 million pounds to the facility and create as many as 50 new jobs. The expansion project includes installation of state-of-the-art technology that will make use of recycled aluminum in the manufacturing process, in addition to most modern pollution control devices.

The project has been provided $1.7 million state funding, in addition to broader financial assistance.

Luke Palen, President, Spectro Alloys noted that the company is excited to celebrate the future of aluminum recycling in Minnesota. The expansion will help to meet the rising demand for high-quality recycled aluminum. The facility will recycle UBCs and other discarded aluminum products to produce sheet ingot, he added.

Meantime, Walz credited the company for the expansion works and their commitment to environment by reducing use of virgin metals. The 50 new jobs matter a lot. Furthermore, he hoped that the expanded facility will turn out to become a place to do something that makes a difference, rather than just being a workplace.
