Sims Metal Purchases New Assets to Expand UK Footprints

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Sims Metal Management Ltd- the leading global metals recycling company has announced acquisition of fresh assets in Britain, UK. With this round of acquisition, the company now owns 50 ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal recycling facilities across the UK.

According to company press release, it has decided to acquire the northern English metal recycler Morley Waste Traders Limited and its subsidiary Lord and Midgley Limited. It must be noted that Morley Group owns 10 facilities across Yorkshire. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Alistair Field, Sims group CEO noted that Morley’s assets are a strategic fit to its existing operations in the region. The acquisition is in line with the company’s strategic plan to grow through key acquisitions in core markets. The takeover will result invaluable additions to its European Metals business, Field added. Meantime, Paul Wright, managing director of Europe Metals for Sims said that the company looks forward to welcome new colleagues from the acquired businesses into the Sims UK team. The acquisition is expected to help the company to enhance its local market presence. Further, the addition of Morley’s ferrous and non-ferrous processing facilities to its fold will help to extend its footprint into new markets.
