New Corrugated Packaging Plant Coming Up in Halden, Norway

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Peterson, a leading manufacturer of sustainable corrugated packaging in Scandinavia, announced construction of a new flagship corrugated site in Halden, Norway. The proposed ultra-modern facility is expected to significantly boost the company’s total production capacity. The construction is expected to be completed by autumn next year. Upon completion of the plant, the company’s Sarpsborg City Centre operations will be transferred to the new site.

According to news release issued by the company, the new plant will be unique in the entire region. The project will feature state-of-the-art equipment and will be marked by 100% digital production techniques. The production equipment will be completely revamped. The facility will also comprise of a high-bay warehouse to enable storage of finished products from the plant, which in turn will ensure reliable and timely delivery of materials. In addition to exceptional commercial benefits, the new facility also offers significant addition to Peterson’s overall Norwegian production capacity.

Dan Johannessen, Managing Director of Peterson reminded that the company has a long history in the Ostfold region. The company is pleased to announce investment in a brand new facility in the same area, in close proximity to its existing customers. This will help Peterson to offer improved quality and service levels to customers, he said. The shift in operations from Sarpsborg to Halden will sustain the company’s market leading position, he added.

The higher efficiency level of the factory will keep Peterson at the forefront of innovation in the midst of rapidly changing markets. The investment is part of company’s long term vision and strategy to boost investments in Nordic region, which was announced soon after its acquisition by VPK Packaging Group and Klingele.

The company currently employs nearly 630 people across six manufacturing facilities located in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
