SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Finland-headquartered Kemira announced investment of $70.8 million at its Mobile, Alabama facility, aimed at expanding production. The investment will add approximately 20 new jobs, thus lifting the plant’s workforce by almost one-third. The construction is expected to begin this year. The upgraded facility, with latest machinery and boosted logistics service capabilities is expected to become operational before the end of this year itself.

The proposed investment will expand the company’s existing footprint. It will significantly boost production to meet the rising demand from customers in the oil and gas industry. Incidentally, Kemira has two more operating facilities located in Columbus, Georgia and Aberdeen, Mississippi.
Commenting on the development, Pedro Materan, senior vice president, Oil & Gas, at Kemira said that the investment is an important step in line with its strategic growth objectives. It will further reinforce its position as a leading global polymer producer. Furthermore, it demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to the oil and gas industry.
The Kemira’s decision to invest in Mobile facility was widely welcomed by local authorities.
