Jersey City launches 'White Goods and E-Waste' recycling program

HAMILTON (Scrap Monster): The Jersey City Incinerator Authority (JCIA) has launched a new recycling program for City residents. The “White Goods and E-Waste” recycling program is designed to help residents to increasingly recycle large household items and used electronic goods. The residents could either request for a pick up or drop off the goods at JCIA premises.

Residents who wish to arrange a pick-up should call JCIA authorities at 201-432-4645, ext. 600. The service will be available from 8.00 am to 4.30 pm on all week days (Monday to Friday). Those who wish to drop their waste should bring them to JCIA Head Quarters located at 501 Rt. 440. The drop-off location will be open Monday through Friday 10 am to 3 pm.

The service is restricted to Jersey City residents. Hence customers are requested to bring proof of residency such as driver’s license or utility bill.

According to authorities, the following white goods will be accepted- refrigerators, air conditioners, stoves, microwaves, hot water heaters, washing machines and dryers. E-Waste may include computers and computer equipment, TVs, VCRs/DVD players, stereos, radios, copiers, phones , fax machines and scanners.
