ISRI to Discuss Changes to Nonferrous Metal Specifications

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The board of directors of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) will vote on proposed changes to nonferrous metal specifications and changes in guidelines for paper stock at its meeting scheduled to be held in Washington on July 16th.

One among the two newly proposed nonferrous specifications is Saint Nickel Bearing Scrap, which represents any nickel-bearing alloy scrap that comprises minimum 3% recovered nickel. Another new specification, named Reels Mixed Nonferrous Wheels Weights, represents nonferrous wheel weights that comprise a minimum of overall 60% nonferrous and not more than 40% iron. For both the above specifications, the material has to be free of any foreign material. The final material specifications will be determined between buyer and seller.

Also, the board will consider a proposed change to the specification for nonferrous ropes lead wheel weights. As per ISRI, ropes lead wheel weights would consist of lead wheel weights with or without iron clips. They must not include scrap lead, lugs or plates unless specifically agreed to. They must be free of foreign material. The final specifications must be determined between buyer and seller.

In addition, ISRI board will consider three proposed changes to its paper stock guidelines.
