Honeywell, Environ Collaborate on Innovations in Plastic Recycling

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading technology solutions provider, Honeywell, announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Egypt-based Environ Adapt for Recycling Industries towards advancing circular recyclability in the country. The partnership will strive to advance plastic recycling, by developing innovative ways to recycle plastic.

The MoU, signed during the COP27 conference held recently in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, is in line with the objectives laid out by the country in its Vision 2030 plan, which targets to reduce GHG emissions from the entire energy sector by 10%, in comparison with the 2016 baseline level.

Under the terms of the MoU, the partners will work in collaboration towards establishing a chemical recycling facility in the country, which would be the first of its kind in Egypt. The proposed facility will employ Honeywell’s modern technology to convert plastic waste into valuable recycled polymer feedstock (RPF), which has potential to recycle up to 90% of waste plastics.

Environ will conduct a project feasibility study, whereas Honeywell will provide it with broader project support and technical and commercial assistance.

It must be noted that Honeywell has been significantly expanding its activities in Egypt for the past several years.
