SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Jericho, New York-based Georgia-Pacific Recycling entered into new partnership with Evansville, Indiana-headquartered Berry Global Group, Inc. to create a closed loop system towards procurement, recycling and reprocessing of postconsumer resin (PCR). The newly announced partnership aims to boost domestic recovery of plastics.
In accordance with the agreement, both the companies will partner across the material supply chain to procure PCR. Georgia-Pacific will make use of its established logistics facilities to procure and transport the postconsumer plastic scrap for recycling. Meantime, Berry Global will reprocess the plastic scrap. Both the companies have agreed to commence material collection in Q1 this year. The reprocessing of the collect3ed materials is expected to begin by second quarter of the year.
Tom Salmon, chairman and CEO of Berry Global noted that the partnership, in addition to offering recycling solution fotr its customers, will also provide them with a stream of recycled content. Marc Forman, president of Georgia-Pacific Recycling stated that the partnership will bolster its abilities to provide nationwide recycling solutions for plastic, paper and metals.
