SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Georgia Pacific’s Albany Lumber achieved major production milestone. The facility produced its one billionth boardfoot. The milestone production was recorded on 18th April, on the fourth year of opening the facility in 2020. The employees organized a party to celebrate the event.
The company had begun construction of the facility in 2018. The technologically advanced 32,000-square foot facility was built at an investment of $150 million. It is one of the two largest sawmills in Georgia, currently employing more than 150 full-time employees. The company employs more than 7,600 people in its operations across the state. It must be noted that Georgia Pacific has invested more than $3 billion over the past one decade in expansions and fresh acquisitions.
Michael Johnson, plant manager noted that the accomplishment demonstrates the company’s ability to meet customer demand and its commitment to sustainable forestry practices. Furthermore, it symbolizes the hard work and commitment of all the employees at Albany Lumber. Watching the one billionth boardfoot roll off the line was exciting for the employees, he added.
