DS Smith Heralds Decade-Long Association with Hauling Partner

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith Plastics, Foam Products declared that the company will continue to focus on working with companies that values sustainable business growth. The company assigns top priority to sustainability and greener solution both within its business and in the selection of suppliers. For instance, it has been partnering with the Lesmahagow, Lanark-based haulage company Gilmour Brothers for more than a decade now.

According to DS Smith press release, the escalating prices of diesel and the thrust to reduce emissions in line with the government targets, has led to haulage sector looking for alternate fuel options. Consequently, Gilmour Brothers has made significant investments in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) technology to run its fleet of vehicles.

The press release notes that LNG-fuelled trucks are much cheaper than diesel vehicles, mainly on account of the lower LNG prices compared with diesel. Moreover, they are much more environment-friendly as they emit less carbon dioxide in comparison with diesel trucks. The LNG trucks which provide sustainable delivery solutions to DS Smith customers also offer long maintenance intervals in addition to low fuel consumption.

The Livingston, U.K-based company is overwhelmed by Gilmour Brothers’ highly ethical and environmentally responsible business practices. Also, it hopes to extend the decade-long business partnership for many more years to come.
