SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): DS Smith plc announced appointment of Geoff Drabble to the Company's Board. He joins the Board as Chairman Designate and a Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 September 2020. He succeeds Gareth Davis, who will retire from the Board, as Chairman on 3 January 2021.
Before joining DS Smith, Geoff has been serving as the Chief Executive of Ashtead Group plc for a period of 12 years. Prior to that, he was the executive director of The Laird Group plc. Also, he has held a number of senior management positions at Black & Decker. He is also the Non-Executive Chairman of Ferguson plc and a Non-Executive Director of Howden Joinery Group Plc.

Rupert Soames, Senior Independent Director noted that Geoff brings a wealth of both industrial and international experience. Meantime, Miles Roberts, Group Chief Executive thanked Gareth for his enormous contributions to the company in developing the business over the last decade.
According to company press release, Geoff will also join the Nomination and Remuneration Committees of the Board.
Recently, the company had appointed Wouter van Tol as its Head of Sustainability and Government Affairs, who will spearhead sustainability and public affairs across the DS Smith Group including its packaging, paper and recycling divisions.
