SPOKANE (Scrap Monster): According to a new report released by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), nearly 37% of Americans are expected to purchase tech or tech accessories during Black Friday Week. The “2015 Pre-Black Friday Survey” report also indicates shift in shopping preferences from traditional mode to online purchases via mobile devices.

The Black Friday purchases are no longer limited to a single day but are spanned over one full week starting from the Monday before Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday. As per the survey report, Americans consider Cyber Monday (Nov 30th) to turn out as the most popular day to shop online this year. Nearly 26% of consumers plan to shop on that day. This is almost 6% higher when compared with the previous year. A record 155 million US consumers plan to shop during the week, with more than 70% planning to shop online.

Mobile devices will play more prominent role in shopping over the week, when compared with previous years. Nearly 53% of those surveyed are expected to use mobile device such as smart phone or tablet to do their shopping.

Black Friday (November 27th) will be the most popular day for in-store shopping. Nearly 25% of US residents plan to shop from stores on that day, 3% lower when compared with a year before. Also 15 million Americans plan to shop in-store on Thanksgiving Day.

The top tech products that consumers plan to purchase during the Black Friday Week are videogame consoles, televisions, tablets, laptops, smart phones, head phones, DVD/Blu-ray Disc players, digital cameras, digital toys and smart watches.

The CTA report is based on the findings of a quantitative study administered via telephonic interview. The CTA, formerly the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), is the trade association representing the $285 billion U.S. consumer technology industry.
