Big Corporates Join Hands to Fund U.S. Recycling Ventures

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Falls Church, Virginia-based national non-profit, The Recycling Partnership, has announced the addition of International Paper as its latest funding partner. The other big corporate to extend support to the recycling initiative includes Amazon and Starbucks Coffee Co., who also have joined as funding members.

Keefe Harrison, CEO of The Recycling Partnership stated that the addition of new partners demonstrates the interest shown by leading companies towards investment in recycling solutions that could deliver positive environmental, social and economic change. The new collaboration will help to build stronger solutions to environmental and communities concerns and also enable the Recycling Partnership to deliver notable change to recycling solutions. All the three companies have already announced sustainability as part of their corporate goals, Harrison added.

Aimee Gregg, general manager recycling at International Paper noted that the new collaboration would help the company meet its commitments. The company will continue to ensure safe and sustainable business operations through use of resources in the most efficient and responsible manner.

Working with The Recycling Partnership will help the company to improve its recycling efforts in communities across the nation, said Trent Huntington, sustainability manager at Amazon. The company has spent over 10 years on developing innovative solutions that help to eliminate waste by offering 100% recyclable packaging solutions for its customers, he added.

Rebecca Zimmer, global director of environment at Starbucks noted that the company is proud to have associated with The Recycling Partnership as it will help the company to achieve complex sustainability goals.
