Ardagh to Build New Beverage Can Production Lines at Mississippi Facility

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Luxembourg-based Ardagh Group announced major expansion to beverage can production from its Mississippi facility. The company has decided to add two new manufacturing lines for beverage cans at its Olive Branch facility. The expansion is in response to rising demand for beverage cans, the company press release said.

The first of these two new lines is expected to start production in late-November this year, whereas the second line is expected to begin production by the end of 2020. The additional capacity will allow Ardagh’s U.S. operations to fulfil customer contracts by offering sustainable beverage packaging solutions. The capacity expansion will add 80 new jobs, thus lifting the number of employees at the plant to more than 200. The new production lines will focus on Ardagh Sleek range of cans.

Commenting on the development, Claude Marbach, CEO of Ardagh Metal – Beverage North America noted that the investment at its Olive Branch facility is one of the many that are being implemented to address the ever-rising demand for recyclable beverage cans. The company is planning a series of new investments to tap the demand for sustainable beverage cans with high recycled content.

Recently, Colorado-headquartered packaging producer Ball Corp. announced plans to build a new multi-line aluminum beverage can manufacturing plant in Pittston, Pennsylvania at an investment of nearly $300 million.
