The LME Steel Scrap CFR Turkey (Platts) Month 2 Closing price as on May 29, 2025 stood at $342.00 per tonne.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Based on price data compiled from the Scrap Monster Price Index, one could see that steel scrap prices declined during the past one week period from May 23 to 29, 2025.
The prices of #1 HMS and Structural Steel recorded the biggest decline, falling by 4.48% each over the previous week.

The HMS 80/20 prices were down by 3.64% over the prior week.
Also, notable price decline was reported in #1 Bundle, whose prices edged lower by 2.44%.
The prices of #1 Busheling and Sheet Metal recorded decline by 2.33% and 2.08% respectively on the Index.
The Shredded Auto Scrap prices were flat on the Index.
The price of all steel scrap commodities except Shredded Auto Scrap, declined during the previous week.
The prices of #1 HMS and Structural Steel scrap recorded the largest dip, falling by 4.48% each over the prior week. The weekly price chart of #1 HMS scrap is provided below:
The HMS 80/20 scrap prices dropped by 3.64% from $275 per MT to $265 per MT during the week.
#1 Bundle and #1 Busheling prices were down by 2.44% and 2.33% respectively.
Also, Sheet Metal prices were down by 2.08% over the prior week.
The region reported decline in prices of all commodities, except Shredded Auto Scrap.
The prices of #1 HMS and Structural Steel scrap recorded the largest dip, witnessing a decline of 4.48% each over the prior week.
The other scrap categories to report notable decline in prices were HMS 80/20, #1 Bundle and #1 Busheling.

The least decline in prices were recorded in Sheet Metal, whose prices were down by 2.08% over the prior week.
The prices of #1 HMS and Structural Steel scrap recorded the biggest fall, declining by 4.48% each over the prior week.

Also, notable price declines were reported in #1 Bundle, #1 Busheling and Sheet Metal. The prices of #1 Bundle scrap went down by 2.44%. Additionally, the prices of #1 Busheling and Sheet Metal dipped by 2.33% and 2.08% respectively.
The prices of Shredded Auto Scrap held steady at $370 per MT, upon comparison with the week before that.
The Chinese steel scrap market has been flat during the week. The prices of #1 HMS scrap witnessed no change from the prior week. Cast Iron Scrap prices held steady, as shown in the below chart.
The prices of all steel scrap commodities such as #1 HMS, Cast Iron Scrap, Grade 1 Old Steel, Grade 2 Old Steel, Grade OA Structural Plate, Sheet Metal, Shredded Auto Scrap and Structural Steel held steady when compared with the week before.
