ZSNP, a.s., in Žiar nad Hronom started preparing a project for the industrial processing of old vehicles as early as 1995. The aim of the project was to use the premises in which the technology of alumina production was operated. As this technology was shut down for economic and environmental reasons, it was necessary to use these areas in a more environmentally friendly way. In 1997, she founded the subsidiary ZSNP RECYKLING, s.r.o., in which the project "Recycling of car wrecks" was started, focused on the processing of old vehicles using the technology of gradual dismantling. The most significant benefit of the Car Wreck Recycling project is to increase the protection of the environment, especially water, from the impact of dangerous parts of old vehicles, such as batteries, engine and transmission oils and other operating fluids. The current ZSNP RECYKLING, a.s., to which the company ZSNP RECYKLING, s.r.o. was transformed, is one of the first companies in the Slovak Republic to obtain the necessary authorization from the Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic. Since its inception, our company has focused significantly on the environmentally friendly and actively participates in the development of possibilities for the recovery of non-metallic waste. To this day, he actively improves the processes in the processing of old vehicles and cooperates with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering STU on the development of new technologies for waste recovery. Therefore, the company has the following main goals

The projected capacity of the ZSNP RECYKLING processing plant is approximately 1,500 pieces of old vehicles per year in single-shift operation, and up to 4,000 pieces per year in a continuous operating mode. As the only company from the processors of old vehicles in the Slovak Republic, since 2008 it has held the certificates of the integrated quality management system ISO 9001, environment ISO 14001 and safety OHSAS 18001.

In 2010, the company approved the newly reconstructed Hall of the dismantling line of old vehicles. After the reconstruction, the hall is one of the most modern equipped in Slovakia and thus creates conditions for meeting the priorities set by the company.

Since 2016, when the responsibility for end-of-life vehicles was transferred to the manufacturers by law through Extended Producer Responsibility, our company is a responsible partner for OZV Autorecycling which covers 44 vehicle brands as individual manufacturers who fulfill RZV for Škoda, VW, AUDI, Seat, Cupra.

In 2021 we changed the legal form from a joint stock company to back to a limited liability company (from 22.6.2021)
