Stephen Leigh Jewelers was founded by our first-generation jeweler, Abraham Blumberg, in 1914 in Dallas, Texas. The founding years were spent in both wholesale jewelry sales and pawn broking. Abe was a daring and visionary man, coming to the United States on his own from Europe. His knowledge and skills acquired over the next 71 years helped lay the foundation for our jewelry and loan business.

In the mid 1940s, the second generation of jewelers established himself as a businessman in its best sense. After spending time learning the wholesale jewelry business, Leon Blumberg established our roots on the East Coast. The company consisted of concessions in fine department stores and in many well-known chain stores.
The business began in Massachusetts and expanded throughout New England and other states. The focus at that time was moderately priced jewelry and watches as well as costume jewelry. Leon molded our company philosophy around 3 key objectives: be local, be accessible, be full-service.

Our 3rd generation began in 1972. Stephen Blumberg had grown up in the fully expanded company business. He learned the entire spectrum of responsibilities and expectations each and every day and started as a jewelry marker and stockroom employee.

His philosophy was to downsize the company and eventually transform the direction to free-standing finer guild stores selling fine jewelry, both designer and company created.
In 1989, Stephen's vision was to become the premier location in Quincy to be both a fine jeweler and pawnbroker at the same location. The rest is history, yet to be written.

In the 1980s, the company was very fortunate to add Scott Lechter to the staff. Scott is a family member, as well as a fine manager and salesman at our current location.

The jewelers of Stephen Leigh continued the company legacy by establishing our address in Quincy in 1971. Now in our third generation of jewelers, our goals are the same as the past 100 years, offer the best product to our customers in a professional and dignified manner, total dedication to our clients, and unparalleled customer service is the hallmark of our company. Stephen Leigh will competitively price with anyone in our industry. Our clients are generational and have remained loyal to our company and we value that loyalty with the highest regard.
