OUR MISSION

The mission of the Salt Lake City Master Recycler program is to create a network of champions who are trained in waste reduction strategies and are able to assist with outreach and engagement in the Salt Lake City community.

Master Recyclers will be empowered to become recycling champions in their own communities.

WHO ARE THE MASTER RECYCLERS?

Salt Lake City Master Recyclers are a group of volunteer City representatives and recycling enthusiasts. They work within the community to educate about recycling and encourage people to reduce their waste. Master Recyclers serve as community resources for recycling support and guidance in their very own neighborhoods!

PROGRAM SERVICES

Salt Lake City’s Master Recycler Program provides in-depth instruction for residents in an effort to promote recycling and improve waste diversion rates. The Master Recycler Course provides the following:

Expert Instruction:

Master Recyclers receive expert instruction in solid waste management, recycling, composting, waste diversion, environmental impacts of waste, and effective community outreach and engagement.

On-Site Experience:

Master Recyclers will be provided the opportunity to visit many primary solid waste management and waste diversion facilities in the Salt Lake Valley. You can even “tag” along with the Waste and Recycling Division’s inspection team!

Hands-on Learning:

Master Recyclers will be in the field with education and outreach experts, seeing first-hand what they do and how they do it.

Certification and Recognition:

Upon completion of the program, Master Recyclers will be recognized with a certificate of completion, Master Recycler T-Shirt, and More!
