About Company
  • In 1998 we started a steel service center with a simple business plan and idea. “That we could take care of our customers better than our competition could.” Since that time we have grown and added both equipment and people, but always strive to take care of the customer!
  • It soon became apparent that we were the shop to call if you need someone to say “yes, we can do that.” It’s easy to say “no” but it takes dedication to service and taking care of our customers to say “yes“
  • If you need a simple piece of tubing or a large Wear project, layed out and field measured let us know how we can help.  thats why our Mission is simply
  • Our people do make a difference and at Rocky Mountain Steel we have a team of employees who understand that we put “You” the customer at the center of our operation.

Using Hypertherm mild steel bevel cut parameters customers can quickly achieve accurate bevel parts for new jobs.

  • Setup time and scrap material are greatly reduced for new job setup due to reduced trial and error.
  • Bevel cut sequence recommendation is provided for improved accuracy and consistent quality.
  • Scalable parameter tables with embedded equations allow users to add new angles with ease.

Plasma Cutting/Flame Cutting

Plasma cutting is a process that is used to cut steel and other metals of different thicknesses using a plasma torch. In this process, an inert gas is blown at high speed out of a nozzle; at the same time an electrical arc is formed through that gas from the nozzle to the surface being cut, turning some of that gas to plasma. The plasma is sufficiently hot to melt the metal being cut and moves sufficiently fast to blow molten metal away from the cut.

Saw Cutting
Saw cutting is an intermediary process to prepare steel tubing, rods, channel, and other materials to blueprint length for welding. Saw cutting usually creates a rough burr but can be ground off if the material is to be used as is. Our saws have the capacity to cut up to 13″ x 18″ and 12″ diameter on a 45 deg miter cut.

Beveling
We can machine cut weld bevels on our cut plates with either A, V, or K bevels, both on the ID and the OD. We also Bevel heavy plates with our Track torch system.

Forming
With our 400 ton x 12′ CNC driven press brake, we can form channels, cones, offsets, transitions and chutes etc. We are one of only a few shops that form AR and Overlay plates.

Rolling
Our rolls enable us to roll plate shells into shells specifically for tanks, rolled rings, eccentric cones, concentric cones, and repads. These rolled products can be fabricated from our own plate inventory or from customer supplied material.

Stud Welding
ARC stud welding involves the same basic principles as any other welding procedure. The weld gun lifts the stud a short distance from the base metal and initiates a controlled electric arc from the power source which melts the end of the stud and a portion of the base metal. We can weld studs up to 1″ in diameter, and is generally used to weld studs to the back of Chrome overlay plate to attach to the inside of liners for ease of installing and removing liner plates in hard to weld or hard to access areas.
