The main activity carried out by the company is the acquisition of ferrous and non-ferrous waste and their processing to be reintroduced into the economic circuit.

Also, in addition to this basic activity, we have developed a series of related activities, namely the import of elvial brand aluminum profiles from Greece, hardware for aluminum carpentry, PVC carpentry brand CCG from Germany and hardware for this, along with the manufacture and commercialization of Walin composite marble products.

The commercial company REMAT MARAMURES S.A. was fully privatized on 15.12.1998 with the takeover of the majority stake owned by F.P.S. (69.42%) by the PAS REMAT Employees' Association and the signing of the contract, including the payment of these shares, which was made in full.

The commercial company REMAT MARAMURES S.A. was established by Government Decision no. 33 of 14.01.1991 through the reorganization of the former County Enterprise for the Recovery and Valorization of Reusable Materials - I.J.R.V.M.R.

According to the law, the object of activity of S.C. REMAT Maramures S.A. is for the collection, transport, processing, pre-industrialization and sale of reusable materials.
Like its predecessor, it has coverage at the county level, with collection centers in Sighetu Marmatiei and Viseu.

I.J.V.R.M.R. came into existence in February 1980, through the unification of D.P.C.D.M. - Deposit for the Processing and Collection of Metallic Waste and I.P.A. – The Pre-industrialization and Procurement Enterprise. Through this merger, the profile of the newly established company expanded in the sense that, in addition to metallic waste, non-metallic waste (paper, glass shards, tires) as well as raw materials of animal origin (wool, skins of various species) were collected and processed.

In 1986, the activities of collecting reusable materials, metallic and non-metallic, were separated from raw materials of animal origin, creating the Enterprise for the Acquisition and Processing of Raw Materials of Animal Origin - I.A.P.M.P.O.A. , the action of collecting and processing metallic and non-metallic reusable materials remaining at I.J.R.V.M.R.

Prior to 1980, there was, starting in 1970, the Metal Waste Processing and Collection Deposit - D.P.C.D.M. enterprise that carried out its activity within the Maramures, Satu Mare, Salaj counties with headquarters in Baia Mare. The activity profile of this enterprise was the collection and processing of metal waste.

At the origin of all of them is I.C.M. – The Material Collection Enterprise that was established in 1948, being subordinated to the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry.
