Essentra Components forms part of Essentra plc, a leading international supplier of specialty plastic, fiber, foam and packaging products with four principal operating divisions: Component & Protection Solutions, Porous Technologies, Packaging & Securing Solutions and Filter Products. Through these divisions, Essentra focuses on the light manufacture and distribution of high volume, essential components which serve customers in a wide variety of end-markets and geographies.

Having recently rebranded, Essentra Components’ new identity helps to bring together all our previously multi-branded offering under one name to underline our breadth of product range and specialist capabilities.

Essentra Components has become a strong product distributor across the globe through the culmination of ideals and products from a number of former businesses. These include Moss Plastics, Alliance and Richco.

As the origins of Essentra Components, Moss Plastics, based in the UK, manufactures and distributes a broad range of injection and dip molded components serving a wide range of industries since the 1950's. With local offices and distribution centers across Europe, the company was well placed to meet the challenging delivery requirements of our European-wide customers.

With offices and distribution centers across the US, Alliance originally manufactured and distributed a wide range of component products including: Injection Molded Caps and Plugs, Electrical Components, Dip Molded Caps, Plugs Grips, Protective Netting, Nylon Fasteners, Clear Packaging Tubes to Pipe & Flange Protection, High Temperature Masking Products, Grommets and Industrial Gas Products. Founded in 1968 and part of the Essentra Plc. group of companies since 1987, Alliance is the foundation of Essentra Components in the US.

In 2004 the acquisition of Skiffy, based in the Netherlands, helped expand our range of fasteners and fixings. Skiffy manufactured and distributed a range of proprietary plastic and metal products into a very broad range of industrial sectors. The product range is particularly strong in nylon washers, spacers and bushes.

In 2011 the acquisition of Reid Supply, a leading distributor of standard industrial components, based in Muskegon, Michigan, expanded our range of industrial components. This included knobs, handles and handwheels, clamps and workholding, tooling components, fasteners and hardware, levelling devices and vibration control, material handling, bearings and power transmission, metalworking, tools, maintenance and shop supplies, pneumatics and hydraulics, structural systems and safety.

Additionally, in 2011 the acquisition of Richco, Inc., based in Chicago with an extensive European and Asian presence, helped expand our range of electrical components. Richco manufactured engineered injection molded components primarily for the electronics and electrical industry. Their production technology has been carefully developed to provide optimal performance and maximum product flexibility. The product range is particularly strong in circuit board hardware and cable management components.

In 2013 the company acquired Ulinco Components AB, based in Sweden, a leading distributor of plastic protection and finishing products, hardware and specialist masking solutions in the Nordic region.

In 2013 Filtrona plc announces that it will rebrand as Essentra plc. Essentra, an abstract name, was specifically chosen to capture what each of Filtrona’s businesses manufactures and supplies; namely millions of small but essential components which often play a critical enabling role in the products of the Company’s customers, everywhere and every day.

At the start of 2014 Mesan was acquired by Essentra plc, expanding the Components’ offering in access hardware solutions. Based in Turkey, Mesan has been developing high performance ergonomic and innovative, customer orientated products for many years, making it a sure fit for the growing hardware segment of Essentra Components. The product range is particularly strong in locks, hinges, gasketing and handles.

At the Middle of 2014 an agreement was made to acquire Kelvindale. Based in Australia, they are a leading manufacturer and distributor of an extensive range of plastic protection and finishing products. This acquisition further enhances our geographic presence within the Asia Pacific region.
