Qualico Steel is a 43 year old family owned company with the capacity to fabricate 35,000 tons per year. With 3 plants consisting of 9 fabrication bays, we have tremendous flexibility and capacity to handle any size project. As an AISC Certified fabricator since 1986 and being NQA-1 Qualified since 2010, Qualico is regularly engaged in the fabrication of structural steel for the industrial market specializing in medium to heavy Industrial projects.

Our plants are fully equipped with modern technology and staffed with customer-oriented professionals who understand the importance of scheduling, sequencing, quality fabrication and on-time deliveries. Each of our shops have shot blast capabilities and segregated paint bays to support multi-coat paint systems. Our fabrication and painting capabilities allow us to handle the most demanding delivery schedules.

Qualico also has 5 affiliate companies located throughout the Southeast offering a wide range of services for Structural Steel fabrication, Pre-Engineered and Hybrid Design Buildings, Full Service Machine Shop, Plate Processing and a Pre-Engineered Building Components Company.

As a whole, we have 13 fabrication bays for fabrication in facilities located in Memphis, TN; Midlothian, TX; Montgomery, AL and Webb, AL with diversification and flexibility to handle any project.

History

Founded in 1976 by John E. Downs, Qualico Steel is a family owned company with the simple objective of providing top quality structural steel fabrication. Catering to both business owners and general contractors, we originally focused on small projects within a 100 mile radius. Prompt service, strong values and quality products helped us quickly establish a name in the industry.

In 1984, we initiated planned growth and concentrated our efforts on medium to large sized industrial projects throughout the Southeastern United States. Our market success allowed us to grow into a major structural steel fabricator of medium to large sized industrial projects. Our services include engineering and design and complete fabrication capabilities. All of our facilities are equipped with state of the art automated equipment. Qualico has top of the line blasting and cleaning equipment and can apply 1, 2 or 3 coat systems in our climate controlled 474,000 square foot fabrication and coating facility located in Webb, Alabama.

As our production began to grow so did our need for expansion. A second facility was added to handle miscellaneous fabrication consisting of stairs, rails, ladders and platforms as well as small to medium structural steel fabrication. That 70,000 square-foot-plant with a 35,000 square-foot-paint bay is located in Montgomery, Alabama.

In 1995 we established a third facility in Midlothian, Texas. This 104,500 square foot facility has a 40,000 square foot paint bay and is strategically located adjacent to Gerdau Steel Mill and enables us to better service our projects in the central and western half of the country.

Currently Qualico Steel has 3 Plants with 9 fabrication bays. We own more than 200 trailers and load in sequences to deliver on-time to your site. We have a Corporate Safety Inspector and a Corporate Quality Inspector and take pride in our flexibility, capabilities, safety, quality and on-time deliveries.
