The Story of Prudential

Prudential Stainless & Alloys, L.P. was originally a surplus distributor for World War II fittings, and has seen many changes and improvements over the years.

In 1948, co-founder Herbert Kreitzer (picture of Herbert) and his partner started business at a storefront in the Bronx, NY (Insert Picture in JS office). As business grew, the company moved to larger spaces over the next six years.

In 1954, Prudential moved across the Hudson River onto a two-acre lot near the center of Newark, NJ (picture of Newark location). Located near major highways, the 22,000 square feet provided room for the company to grow.

By 1968, Herbert had discovered a niche as a master distributor of stainless steel pipe, tube, and fittings and also stocked exotic tubular products.

In 1973, nickel alloy pipe and tube were added to the inventory. A farsighted figure, he originated the standard 20-foot length and developed a market for imported stainless steel pipe from Japan. From the beginning, he was committed to selling exclusively to other distributors, a policy the company strictly adheres to today.

In 1985, aluminum pipe and tube were added into inventory, giving the company a product array of 6,500 items. By expanding both it’s size range and alloys in stainless, nickel, and aluminum, the inventory grew to over 12,000 items.

In 1994, the company moved to its present location in Avenel, NJ.

With the larger space came the addition of solid bar. In both stainless and nickel alloys.

In 2005, Herbert passed away and his son Joseph became President. (insert picture of Joe) Joseph has continued to expand the product line in both odd-ball sizes and hard-to-locate grades of stainless, nickel and aluminum. Joseph Kreitzer along with his dedicated team, all work together to ensure the best possible service to all of their customers.
