About Company

Plastic recycling in Wermland AB today have around 40 employees working for an environmental community where waste is recycled. We make use of these recycled plastics – one of a small number of companies of its kind.

History

In 1980 Plaståtervinning was founded in Åmotfors in Värmland.

In 1984 Plaståtervinning was in need of more space and moved to Gördsbyn, Arvika, on the site of a shut down wooden mill with room for expansion.

In 1989 Plaståtervinning started to produce sacks made out of recycled material.

In 1993 the legislation about producer responsibility passed in Sweden.

In 1996 Plaståtervinning initiated a cooperation with Plastkretsen, the company organising the collection of plastic packaging adhering to the law about producer responsibility. Plaståtervinning started the first manual sorting of plastic packaging for Plastkretsen.

In 1997 the manual sorting was moved to Deje in the old premises of Deje bruk.

In 1998 Plaståtervinning established manufacturing on Dagö in Estonia, where the production of sacks was moved.

In 2006 the cooperation with Plastkretsen was terminated. All sorting was moved to Automat sortering in Germany.

In 2007 initiated a cooperation with TMR, a competitor to Plastkretsen.

In 2015 the Estonia branch was sold to Biobag International. Dagöplast has at this point grown to 100 staff producing 8000 tonnes. In 2015 Plaståtervinning participated in an innovation procurement of an alternative to creosote treated railway sleepers for the Swedish Transport Department, and was assigned the mission to create a sleeper based on plastic packaging recycled through the producer responsibility programme. Plaståtervinning cooperate with TMR in the project.

In 2016 the first plastic sleepers are laid down in the railway embankment in May. The sleeper production adheres to the American standard AREMA, American Railway Engineering.

Certification

We are certified by EuCertPlast, a certification and audit system for plastic recyclers in the EU, ensuring that the recycling process is environmentally sound and that the recycled plastic holds certain standards, amongst other things.
