History

“There is always a way to do it better… find it.” – Thomas Edison.

Plastic Components, Inc. was founded in 1989 in a 10,000 square ft facility with 3 molding presses and a vague concept of a plan to build a “fully-automated” manufacturing facility.

Now, in the fall of 2015, we have grown to 2 facilities, totaling over 75,000 square ft, shipping over 40,000,000 parts/ month to customers all over the world...with 54 fully automated molding cells running 24/7!!!

Our organization is a living testimonial to the fact that the American manufacturing base is NOT dead; that American manufacturing companies can compete with anyone in the world. We believe it…and we prove it every day. We use our talent, our passion, our strategy and technology to create one of the finest molding facilities of its’ kind in the world.

We have more than doubled in size in since 2009 with an historic growth rate of 22.4% over the last 5 fiscal years.

The PCI Team: The Foundation.

Our organization is full of passionate, dedicated employees who continually seek-out ways to “do it better”… from quoting and order entry to shipping parts to our customers, and everything in between. We believe we have built one of the finest teams and operating systems in the plastics industry.

Supplier Relationships: The Support Structure.

We place a tremendous value on our relationships with our supplier partners (resin suppliers, toolmakers, equipment manufacturers, technology partners) to support our effort with their best-in-class capability. We can never thank them enough for their on-going support. We are a much better company because of them. We view our relationships with our partners as “friendships”, and a true source of our competitive advantage.

Facilities

Morse Drive: Where it all Started: “The Mother Ship.”

Our Morse Drive facility has expanded from the original 10,000 square ft to its’ current 42,000 square ft., and from the original 3 presses to 44 fully developed manufacturing cells. Press sizes range from 35 Tons to 400 Tons. Morse Drive is home to our entire administrative/ business development and engineering team.

Bunsen Drive: The Next Generation: “Lights Out”

Our Bunsen Drive facility, completed and launched on November 11, 2011, represents the “next-generation” of injection molding capability. The facility has been running 24/ 7/ 365 since our grand opening; molding and shipping over 400,000,000 defect free parts. The facility runs on a “light-out” basis. We believe it to be the finest facility of its’ kind… anywhere! Plans are currently being formulated for a 23,000 sq. ft. addition to the facility later in 2015.

Engineering Resource Center: The Future. “Design, Develop, Launch.”

We surveyed our customers in early 2012 to ask them for insights into how we could provide them additional value. The majority of our customers responded with the same answer: New product development and rapid prototyping capability. With that in mind, we launched the Engineering Resource Center (ERC) is late 2012. The results have been overwhelmingly positive. The Engineering Resource Center is now recognized by our customers as a genuine source of strategic advantage in their design validation, and product launch cycle.

What’s Next?

Growth, growth and more growth! As we continue to conquer new horizons in the world of American manufacturing, our efforts continue to be recognized and rewarded by customers, new and old, who see their relationship with Plastic Components, Inc. as an important part of their strategic future. We eagerly accept the challenges that await us, and look forward to being a part of the renaissance of American manufacturing.

The Engineering Resource Center is an advanced prototyping service that allows Plastic Components to lead the requirements of innovative engineers. From concept to production, we are able to create a prototype from your CAD file faster and less expensive than the competition. Because we understand our customers' need for speed, we are able to produce simple open and close molds in about 6-8 days and ABS parts in approximately 48 hours. The ERC proves that results begin here and Plastic Components supports the completion of your plastic parts.

Engineering Resource Center is the benefit center for innovative engineers by:

DESIGN
A full design review by PCI engineering staff, providing input on part design, tooling concepts and resin selection with the goal of creating the most sustainable production design possible.
DEVELOP
Build a prototype tool and mold parts to the specified design standards, tolerance requirements and resin selection.
  • Because PCI only builds prototype tools in the ERC, the customer will never have to wait for machine time
  • Never a compromise – If it can be molded as designed, PCI will mold it!
LAUNCH
Parts can be used with complete confidence for final design validation and functional testing.

PCI has invested millions of dollars in capital for state-of-the art machining centers and molding machines to ensure that the steel is cut accurately and the parts are molded to specification.
