Perri Jewelers is a family owned and operated jewelry store located in downtown Tucson, Arizona. Peter Perri started the business in 1945 and was open until 1955. His brother, Simon reopened the store on November 14, 1957 as sole owner and operator.  Simon Perri owned and operated Perri Jewelers until 2003. When Peter opened the first Perri Jewelers in 1945, the store was located at 129 1/2 W. Congress Street. The store was moved to 37 West Congress Street in 1963. The business moved again to 13 North Stone Avenue in 2004 when Stephen Perri took over ownership from his father, Simon.

The jewelry business is in the Perri blood. When the family moved to Tucson in the 1940s, several of the Perri children set out to learn an aspect of the jewelry trade. Peter, the oldest, was a watchmaker by trade and his reputation for skilled watch repair was known throughout Tucson. Frank Perri studied to be a platinumsmith and opened his own shop, doing custom work in Beverly Hills, California. Both Mary and Simon learned the craft of hand engraving. Simon first learned his trade in Los Angeles, and when he retired in 2003, Mr. Perri was one of only a few hand engravers working in the city of Tucson. His craft is respected and admired by the thousands of satisfied customers he has served during his many years in Tucson and his skillful craftmanship can be seen on the numerous pieces he has engraved througout his time at the bench. Mary still does hand engraving for Perri Jewelers today.

Perri Jewelers is unique in downtown Tucson. At one time, there were as many as six retail jewelry stores in the area. Downtown Tucson has undergone many changes over the years. The Fox Theater has gone from a thriving movie palace to an abandoned landmark to a revitalized piece of Tucson history. The downtown area is currently experiencing a renaissance of sorts with Rio Nuevo and several new construction projects and the addition of the Modern Streetcar. Through it all, Perri Jewelers has remained a fixture in the downtown business community.

The location at 13 North Stone is much smaller than the 37 West Congress store, but the tradition of service and honesty that Simon Perri established in his many years in business is still our top priority. Our new store houses the same engraving bench used by Mr. Perri, the watch repair bench of his brother, Peter, and the 1945 neon sign from the original Perri Jewelers. As well, the vintage 1930s cash register still rings as it has for over 70 years.

Perri Jewelers has survived for over seven decades not because of flashy television and radio commercials or an impressive new building, but because of Mr. Perri's commitment to providing quality merchandise and personal service at competitive prices. Simple word-of-mouth advertising has kept us in business from the beginning. Perri Jewelers has served generations of Tucsonans, and the children and grandchildren of customers keep coming back year after year.
