About Company

Based on knowledge of the forestry sector, there was a growing need for the use of wooden pallets, translating into a business opportunity. This market in Portugal was practically non-existent, people carried products by hand. The need for pallets only appears in developed markets, with the growth of the industry and the consequent automation of warehouses. In addition to the huge range of potential customers, there was the fact that Pinhoser, the group's first company, could contribute to the supply of sawn wood.

Palser was thus established in 1990 under the name Palser – Paletes da Sertã, Lda, with a share capital of 1,000 contos (€4,987.98). It began its activity in Sertã, alongside suppliers of the main raw material, sawn wood. Since the beginning of its activity, it has invested in a pallet manufacturing process that is as automated as possible, in order to obtain good levels of productivity and quality, transforming the company into one of the most evolved and competitive in the sector, both nationally and internationally.

Palser is a company certified by SGS since September 2000, according to the NP EN ISO 9001:2015 standard (for the Manufacture and Sale of Pallets, Wooden Packaging, Sawn Wood, Chips, Sawdust and Bark. Manufacture of Pellets. Manufacture of Blocks of Wood Agglomerate) which improved the company at all levels. In 2007, Palser won the competition for the construction of a forest biomass thermoelectric plant, in the districts of Castelo Branco and Coimbra, up to 3MVA. In March 2008, its corporate name changed to Palser – Bioenergia e Paletes, Lda and began producing electrical energy in early 2010.

On June 30, 2011, a merger process was completed that led to the incorporation of Recuper – Indústria e Recuperação de Pallets, Lda into Palser.

Recupser, a company that was part of the Palser Group, established in 1997, with the aim of selling, repairing and recycling pallets, grew and at the time of the merger its activities, in addition to the initial ones, also included sawing wood and manufacturing wooden pallets and packaging. With the merger, all previous activities as well as the Sertã and Palmela manufacturing units are maintained, with Palser assuming all the rights and obligations of the extinct Recuper.

This integration aims to create a single quality brand, with more notoriety, greater size and know-how, which will allow the company to grow and bring benefits to all those who work with us.

Started production of Wood Pellets at the end of 2013 and Thermotreated Wood at the end of 2014.

Currently, Palser has two manufacturing units, in Sertã and Palmela, has 190 employees and has a share capital of 5,800,000 Euros. The manufacturing area in Sertã is 85,000m² and in Palmela it is 79,000m², of which 20,000m² are covered in Sertã and 7,000m² in Palmela. Palser will continue to work to grow, invest, innovate and diversify, to increasingly satisfy its customers. The quality of the products manufactured and sold has been winning over increasingly demanding customers, stimulating Palser's development and placing the company in a prominent position.
