OnTo Technology was founded in 2004 by Steve Sloop in response to a laptop battery recall of the era. That launched the company effort to develop and commercialize the technologies of Cathode-Healing and rendering-safe the end-of-life lithium batteries. Since then, OnTo has worked with government and industrial partners to expand technical capabilities and develop manufacturing with recycled material. The electrode materials produced using OnTo-Tech’s Direct Recycling, Cathode-Healing™ have the potential to be used numerous times, like a Forever-Cathode™. The minimal energy input has the benefit of a low carbon footprint with low cost and maximum safety. OnTo’s technologies are critical for the economic and environmental sustainability of electric vehicles and energy storage.
