North Country Recycling was born after the Smith Brothers witnessed firsthand what other metal recycling companies were offering. They knew it could be done better by weighing scrap metal at the customer’s site or shop. This ensures transparency and accurate record keeping.  They also realized they could offer competitive pricing while providing steam cleaned, reusable, and shop friendly containers that can be placed at the machine.

We started our business to eliminate headaches.  Most metal recyclers are simply ordered takers, but we value your business, and we treat our customers like a member of our family.

That attitude has created a comfort level with our customers and fostered open communication to explore ideas to make our process better, while delivering better service.  We embrace new methods to do things better.  One idea that has made a lot of sense is transparency with pricing for scrap metal; we weigh at your facility.  You know what we take when we pick up.  Then we set a price per pound based on either COMEX (Commodities Exchange Inc. / New York Mercantile Exchange) or LME (London Metal Exchange), depending on the metal. Finally, we leave you with a receipt and pay you that month.
