Mulzer Crushed Stone located in Tell City touches the lives of millions of people daily. Mulzer supplies the limestone, sand, and gravel for international airport runways, roads, interstate highways, dams, and chemical operations at utilities.

The Mulzer companies have always been there for local communities when disasters strike. During the 1997 flood in the Ohio Valley, equipment and manpower was provided in many towns to help save homes. Free sand was available at most of our locations for sand bagging operations. We helped construct a limestone dike to protect the town of Tell City from flooding when its flood wall started to leak.

The Mulzer Companies are actively working with the Indiana Mineral Aggregates Association to develop a state-wide system of strict, voluntary reclamation standards. Protecting the earth’s natural resources is of utmost importance at Mulzer. In an ongoing program of environmental protections, the company has planted thousands of trees on areas affected by mining operations. Each distribution yard has its own watering system to minimize dust. The areas surrounding the quarries and distribution yards are professionally landscaped to help control noise and dust.

We are stewards of our lands. The company has discontinued active mining at two locations, Derby and Eckerty. In both cases we went far beyond State and Federal requirements to restore the quarry to its natural state. Heavy equipment was used to make rolling hills and stabilize areas to look like natural cliffs. Some pits filled with ground water to form clear, blue aquatic habitats. Natural ground cover and trees were planted to restore the natural habitats. The reclamation project was so successful at Derby, that the Forest Service purchased part of the land for the Hoosier National Forest.
