Mid-Land History

Mid-Land Crane and Erector Company was founded in 1999 by Kenny Neal as a Crane and Millwright service provider. Mid-Land’s first project was a millwright demolition job in Bentonville, Arkansas. Word of mouth quickly spread in regard to the quality of service Mid-Land was capable of providing. Mid-Land’s second project took them to Tulsa, Oklahoma to erect a structural steel two story structure. The successful and on time completion of the Tulsa project established a strong and continuing relationship with many area general contractors.

As the spring of 2000 approached, Kenny realized expansion was necessary to keep up with the demand. By the summer of 2000 Mid-Land Crane and Erector grew to a team of 30 plus men. With the success of a rapidly growing steel erector business, came the typical growing pains. A decision to restructure in 2001 led to the birth of the current Mid-Land.

The following years through 2006 were record breaking years for Mid-Land. In 2007 the record high hot rolled steel pricing had a negative impact on the steel market. Mid-Land came back strong with record years in 2008 and 2009. In 2010, the recession reached the Midwest and business slowed dramatically forcing Mid-Land to adjust its strategic plan. The results of dedicated and committed team members enabled Mid-Land to weather the storm and continue on for more record breaking years from 2011 through 2014.

The company was restructured in 2014 to form Mid-Land Enterprises to represent the family of businesses. Mid-Land adopted an open book management style to allow managers and team members a better way to manage the business. This approach allows Mid-Land to “WOW” the customer with “NO SURPRISES” and to “CELEBRATE THE VICTORIES.” This is done through goal setting, strong communication, trust and accountability and team member recognition. By “FOCUSING ON THE CUSTOMER”, we earn customer loyalty and engagement and continually exceed customer satisfaction.

About Kenny Neal – CEO Mid-Land Enterprises

Kenny holds degrees from Mississippi State University (Finance), the American Institute of Baking (Cereal Chemistry) and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota. Prior to forming Mid-Land Kenny worked in the Food Industry for 20 years as facility start up Project / General Manager. During that period Kenny started seven food manufacturing facilities across the U.S. where he maintained quality team members and satisfied customers with strong safety track records.

Kenny and his family reside near Joplin, Missouri where he and his wife Cindy are active members of St. Paul’s Methodist Church. Kenny and Cindy continue to serve in the mission field in Nicaragua and volunteer time to various Non-Profit Organizations in the Joplin area.
