Kwaliflex was established in 1997 and - together with Landgoed De Princepeel - is one of the businesses that make up the Smits group. Our head office is located in Wanroij, the Netherlands. Kwaliflex consists of Kwaliflex Food Recycling and Kwaliflex Waste Solutions.

The clog symbolises the agrarian lifestyle and our organisational culture. This agrarian lifestyle forms the foundation for the development of the Smits group that Kwaliflex is part of. Our well-trained staff do their jobs with a combination of common sense and specialist knowledge and expertise. We combine this approach with thorough research and many years of experience.

Kwaliflex is one of the largest suppliers of green power through the use of bio-fermentation in the Netherlands. Kwaliflex Waste Solutions specialises in proactively taking all matters pertaining to their waste streams out of our clients’ hands.

The organisations that make up the Smits group are divided between multiple business units.

Besides the activities conducted under the banners of Kwaliflex Food Recycling and Kwaliflex Waste Solutions, our bio-fermentation and animal feed divisions also form two separate units. Despite this division, the various units work together closely with regard to operations, the resources market, purchasing and sales. The businesses in the Netherlands are all located in the vicinity of the estate. The estate itself comprises 540 contiguous hectares and serves as the historical home base of the businesses in the Smits group.

Kwaliflex primarily operates in the Benelux and Germany.

In the UK, we operate under the brand name QBS (Qualiflex Biproduct Solutions).

Mission and culture

Kwaliflex is one of the largest processors of residual waste streams from the food and beverage industry. We are a major proponent of corporate social responsibility (CSR). CSR is good for our living conditions, our environment and your company’s image.

We serve as a reliable partner for our clients and offer them a full-service solution for their waste streams. We strive to increase the value of the waste streams by giving them a proper and responsible final destination.

We use our bio-fermentation installation for the recycling of food and beverages. It is located on our estate, Landgoed De Princepeel. In this bio-fermenter, waste streams and manure are brought together. The gas produced during the bio-fermentation process is used for the generation of green power. We produce enough green power to meet the annual energy needs of 12.500 households. Virtually 100% of the material collected at Kwaliflex is used for the production of biogas, green power, animal feed, water purification or other carbon-saving applications.
