Kreiswerke Schmalkalden-Meiningen GmbH, as a modern service group, coordinates seven municipal companies on behalf of the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district. The business areas range from healthcare to local public transport to waste disposal. More than 125,000 citizens between Rennsteig and Rhön trust this service. Our goal is to act in a socially and ecologically responsible manner for the benefit of the communities and their residents.

In addition, Kreiswerke Schmalkalden-Meiningen GmbH was commissioned by the district to operate the Meiningen landfill. In southern Thuringia, only this landfill has the status of landfill class II. This means that in addition to building rubble and industrial waste, the landfill also accepts hazardous substances such as asbestos cement waste, as well as soil or glass waste.
