JM Jewelers was originally founded in 1960 by John Mercoglan. In 1980, John’s son Kevin took over the business. In 2003, Kevin hired Sheryll Graubart-Hoffman, formally of Graubart Jewelers, to manage JM Jewelers.
Sheryll has over 30 years of experience and is a Graduate Gemologist from The Gemological Institue of America. Sheryll is a 4th generation jeweler and began her jewelry experience in 1983 when she started working with her father, Hershel Graubart in his family jewelry store of Graubart Jewelers. Graubart Jewelers was located in downtown Schenectady and was a landmark for more than 100 years before closing their doors in 2002. Hershel Graubart is a 3rd generation jeweler and gemologist. Today, Hershel visits his daughter’s own jewelry store of JM Jewelers, assisting customers and as a consultant.In 2007, Sheryll purchased JM Jewelers. In 20016 Sheryll's daughter, Shana, came and joined her at the store. On any given day you can find the 3rd, the 4th, and the 5th generation of the Graubart legacy all under one roof.
