Reid Jacobsma, a master jeweler, has served the Sioux City area for more than 30 years. He majored in art at the University of Northern Iowa, where he became interested in jewelry and took classes on the subject.  He said most of his jewelry design and repair skills were self-taught and gained while working for about 12 years at Gunderson’s Jewelers in Sioux City.  A full-service jewelry store, Jacobsma Jewelry specializes in custom work, bridal jewelry, one-of-a-kind pieces, and repair of jewelry, glasses and sunglasses, and sales of antique, consignment, and designer jewelry.  "I show the designer jewelry in showcases or customers can order it from catalogs, what sets us apart is that we can offer jewelry of a higher value at a lower cost."  "Customers today want more for their dollar and we can offer quality service and a better price. He also believes in the following Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would have done unto you. “We try to be fair and honest to all of our customers."  As an independent jeweler, Jacobsma takes pride that 95 percent of the work of designing and repairing jewelry is done in-store. When he’s not with customers, he spends his days repairing jewelry and creating one-of-a-kind pieces.  "I love working with jewelry because it’s all unique and I love seeing the customers’ satisfied and happy reaction when they look at it.
