About Company

Houston & Sons Ltd is a modern, independent metal recycler. We can deal with any quantity of scrap metal, allowing us to pay you the best possible price for your scrap. We are an environmentally friendly company, and are accredited to various major associations within the recycling sector.]Based in Crewe, we provide services such as skip hire and steel sales to the whole of South Cheshire. We consistently re-invest a substantial proportion of our profits in order to maintain our equipment and staff at the highest level. Consequently, we are interested in anything involving scrap metal and offer various options for both members of the public and large companies.

Houston & Sons Ltd began in 1950 when the company was established in Crewe by William Houston. Bill Houston originally came from Scotland as a professional footballer to play for Crewe Alexandra. However, his career was cut short due to injury and he turned to the scrap metal industry to provide a living for his growing family. The company's first premises were established in an old bottling plant on Wistaston road. With the advent of Bill's sons joining the business they needed more space and opened a new site on Oakley Street. This prompted expansion in the business, and additional yards were opened in Congleton and Chester. At this time, the Houston's were joined by Bill's son in law, Ernie Tilley. With his experience as Chief engineer at Rolls Royce, Ernie brought the business into the modern age. Houston's now operates out of a 2.5 acre recycling facility on Victoria Avenue, Crewe. This yard is currently run by Ernie's son Neil Tilley, who has recently been joined by his two sons James and Michael. Together they are in a perfect position to carry the company forward into the 21st century.
