GreenGen has the capability to engineer and implement comprehensive energy efficiency solutions on a global basis, allowing us to be a single and sole point of contact for the engineering and implementation of a comprehensive energy strategy.

GreenGen operates from its headquarters based in Washington, DC, a European headquarters in London, England, and an office in Tokyo, Japan, and optimizes client profitability by engineering and implementing customized, enterprise-wide energy solutions that lower operating costs while improving sustainability. We make every energy decision a smarter financial decision.

We believe that data should drive decisions and sustained behavioral change will ensure success.

Every business can be more profitable by making energy decisions backed by comprehensive analysis, collaborative planning, and ongoing measurement of results. Our customized energy solutions are engineered and implemented using proven and disruptive technologies with the purpose of improving the efficiency of our clients' facilities and lowering their operating costs, while at the same time increasing their overall corporate sustainability.

Our multi-disciplinary team of professionals uses their diverse skills and backgrounds to develop solutions that work... for the facility and the customer.

GreenGenUK is based in Watford (London), England and provides energy efficiency solutions for our customers and their facilities throughout the European Union.

Green Generation Solutions UK, Ltd (GreenGenUK) operates in cooperation with BRE, which began as government-funded research laboratories before being privatized in 1997. BRE is a world leading building science center that generates new knowledge through research. This is used to create products, tools and standards that drive positive change across the built environment. BRE helps its government and private sector clients meet the significant environmental, social and economic challenges they face in delivering homes, buildings and communities. BRE is owned by the BRE Trust, a registered charity. The Trust uses the profits made by the BRE companies to fund research and education that advances knowledge of the built environment.

GreenGen also maintains an office in Tokyo, Japan that oversees its energy solutions development in the Asia-Pacific region. Our Asia work is both for Asia-based businesses and global business with assets in Asia.

EUROPE

GreenGen’s European business is led by Mark Foster. GreenGenUK is based in Watford (London), England and provides energy efficiency solutions for our customers and their facilities throughout the European Union.

Much of European business is on behalf of global real estate investors and is being driven by both a desire to reduce energy-related operating costs, as well as the necessity of complying with a growing amount of EU legislation.

On the supply-side, all European markets are deregulated for electricity and gas procurement, and the UK will deregulate water supply as of April 1, 2017. This creates an opportunity to lower costs and reduce volatility.

Demand-side measures often result in savings that exceed 30% of consumption.

ASIA

With rising energy costs and the passage of the COP21 resolutions, business and real estate operators are hyper-focused on reducing energy costs in Asia. With low cap rates and high PE multiples, significant opportunity to use energy to create asset and enterprise value across the region exists.

Led by Doug Smith, GreenGen Asia is focused on working with local institutions, as well as foreign-owned local subsidiaries to use energy to create value, and the opportunities are numerous.

In recent years, the Japanese government (METI) has significantly increased energy related incentives to help promote energy efficiency across all commercial sectors. In addition, on April 1, 2016, the Japanese government deregulated electricity supply, creating an opportunity to create further savings by lowering the cost of power consumed

In addition, governmental and financial pressures have increased the focus on energy related solutions across Asia, and in particular in its largest markets: China, Japan, and Korea.

Services

Energy Efficiency

GreenGen's core service is the engineering and implementation of comprehensive energy efficiency solutions focused on reducing energy-related operating costs on an ROI basis.

The development of our solutions always follows a six-step process:

  • Pre-assessment: review of expenditures related to electricity, gas, water, and steam, and the creation of load profiles for each commodity to see what you are consuming, when you consume, and what costs you pay, including demand charges and power factor penalties.
  • Onsite assessment: GreenGen's team of engineers review all equipment, systems, schedules, and related areas to understand how the physical facility and people onsite impact consumption.
  • Engineering: GreenGen engineers an integrated solution focused on net payback, taking into consideration gross costs, available rebates and incentives, and modeled energy savings. All potential ECMs are considered and evaluated.
  • Presentation: GreenGen reviews the preliminary solution with the onsite team in order to obtain their feedback. This feedback is integrated into the final solution in order to get the onsite team's support before presenting the solution to ownership for consideration and action.
  • Implementation: once a final scope of work is agreed upon, GreenGen will execute the project, including permitting, project management, engaging subcontractors, and managing the rebate and incentive capture process. In this manner, GreenGen is the single point of contact for implementing the project.
  • Measurement and Verification: once a project is completed, GreenGen will finalize any rebates or incentives that were applied for and provide M&V for up to one year. The M&V is designed to help customers see the energy savings that they have received from the implemented project to demonstrate to the onsite team and senior management the value that energy efficiency creates for the asset enterprise.

    Energy Analytics

GreenGen provides energy analytics as both part of an integrated solution and as a standalone product. Regardless of how it is used, energy analytics are a powerful tool in reducing energy consumption.

Typically, energy analytics involves the installation of meters at a site in order to provide visibility into real-time energy consumption. The data is then integrated onto GreenGen's energy data portal to achieve the following:

    • Review performance of implemented ECMs
    • Review scheduling of equipment and systems
    • Identify energy savings against a pre-implementation baseline
    • Improve energy-related budgeting

GreenGen uses analytics to provide M&V for ECMs, as a product unto itself for facilities to understand better how and when they consume energy. GreenGen has also provided submetering energy data analytics to super-ESCOs in order to calculate energy savings in support of performance contracts.

    Onsite Power Generation

GreenGen can assess, engineer, and implement onsite power generation, helping you wade through the many choices to identify ROI-based alternatives.

GreenGen's Engineering Team evaluates the potential for innovative energy technologies utilizing renewable power sources such as solar, wind, and geothermal, as well as onsite generation (CHP).

GreenGen enables clients to benefit from efficient and reliable power sources that shield them from volatile energy markets while reducing their carbon emissions.
