Established in 1954 by Lamar and Lanier Green, Green Brothers Earth Works was first known as Green Brothers Nursery. The nursery was family-owned, family-operated, and successfully expanded to twenty Green Brothers Nursery Atlanta locations by 1984. In 1984, Green Brothers Nursery was purchased by Sunbelt Nursery Group. In 1989 Sunbelt closed down the Green Brothers Nursery and then in 1992 Clayton Hulen, a Green descendant, opened up Green Brother Earth Works, retained the Green Brother Nursery logo and renamed the company Green Brothers Earth Works.
