The Golden Triangle BID’s commitment to sustainability and quality of life has earned global recognition, including being awarded the prestigious 2024 LEED v4.1 for Communities Platinum certification. This distinction highlights the BID’s leadership in urban innovation, environmental responsibility, and quality of life, setting a standard for downtown districts worldwide. Long-term programming and beautification initiatives, like the rain gardens at 19th and L Streets NW, are a testament to this vision. Additionally, day-to-day services like trash and recycling pickups and landscaping ensure the Golden Triangle remains an attractive and thriving place to do business.

RECYCLING PROGRAM

The Golden Triangle neighborhood features approximately 78 recycling cans and 199 trash cans, to encourage proper disposal and recycling.

Prior to adding recycling bins, the BID collected information to determine the need to provide a recycling option. The public’s response showed a large demand to be environmentally conscious. The BID’s extensive recycling program helped the Golden Triangle achieve LEED Platinum, the highest level of LEED certification, from the U.S. Green Building Council.

It is the first BID in the world to be certified through the LEED for Communities program.
