The Hellinga family business has been experienced in entrepreneurship for more than 50 years. In recent years, the company's activities have been broadened to include infrastructure, demolition, (soil) remediation work and ice control. In addition, the company has a recycling facility on the industrial estate where companies and private individuals can dump their waste flows. But companies and private individuals can also come here for the collection of sand, granulates, concrete products and (garden) soil.

Characteristic for us is: we keep control of the preparation until the end of the assignment. Our aim is to unburden the client. That means involvement with our customers and thinking along in the best solution, because in the end it is the result that counts. Our goal is to professionalise every day and to respond to developments in the market. Our clientele is wide, with orders from 1 to 100,000 m3. Clients we work for include (semi-) governments, companies, associations and private individuals.

Hellinga wants to be a reliable and professional partner for clients. "We are consciously working on a solid position in the market, which we not only want to maintain but where possible even strengthen," says Benno Hellinga.

History

Half a century ago, the foundation was laid for the family business G. Hellinga BV For three generations, the company has guaranteed entrepreneurship in sand extraction and other related activities, such as soil remediation, transport and rental of earthmoving equipment and screening machines and the collection and processing of waste flows. The founder in the 50s-60s was Binne (grandfather) Hellinga. In the early years, the company mainly focused on contracting, such as the construction of (concrete) roads. In the early 1970s, the focus was more on transport and sand extraction. Initially, sand was extracted from small-scale sand pits on the surface. Since the 1980s, sand has been extracted from central sand extraction sites. In 1964 Binne's son Gaatze Hellinga and later his wife Janny joined the company. They have made an important mark on the growth and development of the company. Gaatze's son Benno joined the company in the early 1990s. The company then actively resumed contracting. Other activities and locations were also added. In 2007 Benno Hellinga took over the company from his parents. Today, the company is located on the Groot Verlaat industrial estate in Steenwijk. An office, workshop, recycling and land bank are located on a site of almost 4 hectares. Today, the company is located on the Groot Verlaat industrial estate in Steenwijk. An office, workshop, recycling and land bank are located on a site of almost 4 hectares. Today, the company is located on the Groot Verlaat industrial estate in Steenwijk. An office, workshop, recycling and land bank are located on a site of almost 4 hectares.
