Information is categorized by topic as well as by town. Some of the information on this site is specific to Franklin County, Massachusetts. Readers from elsewhere may have different recycling and disposal options available to them.Member towns of the District are:Bernardston, Buckland, Charlemont, Colrain, Conway, Deerfield, Erving, Gill, Hawley, Heath, Leverett, Leyden, Montague, New Salem, Northfield, Orange, Rowe, Shelburne, Sunderland, Warwick, Wendell, and Whately.The Franklin County Solid Waste Management District is comprised of twenty-two member towns in western Massachusetts. The District's governing body is its Board of Representatives, which includes representatives from each member municipality. The District is staffed by an Executive Director, Program Director, and Administrative Assistant. Each town pays an annual administrative assessment that covers approximately 60% of the District's administrative operating expenses. The remainder of the budgeted expenses is paid through a fee-for-service program and grant income.
