Emfinger Steel Company is Dothan's premier scrap metal recycling facility! Our primary mission is to help preserve the scarce metal resources of today through scrap metal recycling. We purchase secondary scrap steel and semi-precious metals, sort and process them, and then ship them to mills and foundries to form the material into new products. Some of these new products include structural steel, which we purchase in bulk from the mills and make available to the public.

How it works:

Cranes use a large electromagnet to unload steel from trucks and to sort material once it is on the yard.

Propane torches are used to melt through steel that it too thick or too unwieldy to be sheared.

A mobile shear pierces and cuts steel down into more manageable sizes.

Hydraulic baling machines compress piles of scrap steel and aluminum down into dense blocks.
