In 1936, the term “dumpster” arose from the novel Dempster-Dumpster system, which was patented by the Dempster brothers in 1935. Their system involved mechanically loading standardized container (“dumpster”) contents into garbage trucks. The first successful front-loading garbage truck using this new system soon spread across the world.
Today, dumpsters are synonymous with waste cleanup and management.
