Is a privately held family- and employee-owned company that provides marine solutions, energy and logistics services in domestic and international markets. Crowley operates under four business units: Crowley Logistics, a logistics supply chain division that includes ocean liner services; Crowley Shipping, which encompasses ownership, operations and management of conventional and dual fuel (LNG) vessels, including tankers, container ships, multipurpose, tugboats and barges; engineering; project management; and naval architecture through its subsidiary Jensen Maritime; Crowley Fuels, a fuel transportation, distribution and sales division that also provides liquefied natural gas (LNG) and related services; and Crowley Solutions, which focuses on global government services and program management, government ship management, expeditionary logistics and government-oriented freight transportation services.
We support our primary business segments with centralized corporate operations, including purchasing, human resources, information technology, public relations and advertising, training, travel and facilities development. In addition, we often provide vessel design, construction management and vessel management services for company-owned vessels that are chartered for use in our operating lines of business.
Our company was founded in 1892, when founder Thomas Crowley — the grandfather of current chairman and CEO Thomas B. Crowley Jr. — purchased an 18-foot Whitehall boat to provide transportation of personnel and supplies to ships anchored on San Francisco Bay. The present structure, in which Crowley Maritime Corporation serves as a holding company for business lines and all subsidiaries, was put in place in 1992. The company is wholly and privately owned by the Crowley family and Crowley employees.
Enriching lives through innovative solutions done right.
What We Value
Safety: Safety begins and ends with each Crowley employee.
We know that to be truly successful, we must take personal responsibility for the safety of ourselves and those around us, both at work and at home. Because of the nature of our work, we surround ourselves and the environment in layers of defense. We wear proper protection, perform safety assessments and continually improve protocol and procedures. We recognize and correct potential hazards when something is not right. To speak up and fully listen is a vital behavior and everyone has the authority and obligation to stop work if they believe it is not safe. Safeguarding the environment is a key element of this value. With vigilance and commitment, zero harm to people, property and the environment is attainable.
